AMO Goals
AMO 2023 CONTEST DETAILS
CKSTEM is very excited to share our partnership with Singapore International Mastery Challenge Center (SIMCC) in Canada. SIMCC is one of the largest academic contests organizers in Asia to groom and identify talent. We are committed to offering more opportunities for all students to gain international recognition through academic competitions. As a result of this new partnership, we will offer several English, Mathematics, and Science contests for grades 2 to 12 students. In the coming months, we will be able to provide exciting opportunities to the kids to not only shine locally but to exhibit talent internationally with scholarships and specialized training in science and math as well.
To begin this exciting journey, we are offering all our students an opportunity to participate in the American Mathematics Olympiad (AMO). This is an international math competition for elementary, middle, and high school students jointly organized by SIMCC and Southern Illinois University (SIU). It promotes the importance and a deeper understanding of math. AMO is open to all Grade 2 to 12 students, and its framework is based on The US Common Core Standards (similar to Canada).
A group of the best educators from Southern Illinois University with comprehensive knowledge and experience in the Common Core Math curriculum design unique papers to challenge the students and, at the same time, promote their interest in math. Some of the distinguished benefits (or The key benefits) of AMO are university scholarships, the Global Scholars Program, International Junior Honor Society (IJHS) membership, tuition grants, and internships.CONTEST DATE & TIME
AMO will be held online between November 20th & November 25th, 2023. We allow multiple slots to give flexibility to students and schools to participate in the contest on weekdays and weekends. If we get many requests, we may have to split participants into more groups.
The contest is 60-90 min long, but we need students to join 30 min before the contest starts so that we can explain the rules and set up screen sharing or Zoom monitoring. Please note that it's a world olympiad, and we must ensure the contest's integrity. Hence, all participants must share their screens and videos during the contest to qualify for the awards. If schools are proctoring contests in person, they don't need Zoom. So that you know, students who need to participate in contests will still be done online.
CONTEST FEES
The individual contest fee for AMO 2023 is 30 CAD, which excludes shipping fees. At the end of the 2023-2024 school year, we will give the following options to all participants in April 2024:
- Attend award celebration event (discounted tickets for the students to celebrate and collect awards on stage)

In other words, if you participate in Canadian Innovation Contests, SASMO, DrCT, Vanada Science Contest or any other contest conducted by CKSTEM. You will only pay a one-time shipping cost for all contests. Details for other contests will be shared in the coming weeks.)
Discounted contest fees for the schools with more than 10 participants will be 25 CAD + S&H cost of 50 CAD for the awards. We offer support for schools with underprivileged kids. Please don't hesitate to let us know if your school needs help.

REFUND POLICY
The contest fees students pay to Competitive Kids STEM for hosting competitions are non-refundable. To be allowed to host these contests, our organization pays a fee to the various external organizations that own these competitions. It is a significant amount of time and resource investment, not to mention the various charges paid for processing these payments to external organizations, various third parties and financial institutions.
As a nonprofit organization, CKSTEM operates very leanly and has limited resources to keep our operating costs low to make our offerings available at a much lower cost to the students. Hence, we cannot offer any refund for contest fees to students for withdrawals or cancellations beyond our control.
If CKSTEM has wrongly charged any student, or we cancel an event due to reasons under our control and there are refunds provided to us from external organizations, we will happily refund the fees paid by the students (deducting the processing charges).
